A few weeks ago, I met up with fellow photographer Heather to get some photos of her and her husband. They're such a cute, boho, alternative couple, and I was excited to capture their love.
We made plans to meet at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. This location was a dream. While there was no water we could play in, there were adorable wooden stairs, Ol' Barney (the gorgeous lighthouse), a stone jetty, and lots of tall grass and natural areas. If I could change one thing about our session, it would be to park outside the main lot so we could've hung out for a little longer. The parking lot gets locked at 8, even if there are cars still parked.
One thing you should know about me is that I love a good sunset. I used to go out multiple times a week to catch it at different locations. I wish it was more predictable, because sunset portraits are definitely something I wish I could offer. It's something I'm good at and people ask me for a lot. I can never promise results, though, because mother nature is very fickle. There are apps and such to help, but they often change hour by hour. Sunset portraits with an amazing sky are not something you can plan, just something that happens.
Imagine my delight, though, when the sky started to light up while I was photographing Heather and Tyler. The sky was full of gorgeous pinks, purples, and oranges. Every time we turned around, it got better and better.
